The teachings of Mr. Narayan Kedia and Mr. Saswat Mohanty have been a real game-changer in my life. I recently got placed at Agama Law Associates and I totally dedicate this to my mentors. I got the opportunity to learn Company law and Securities and Investment laws from Mr. Narayan Kedia and Mr. Saswat Mohanty.The knowledge I gained was very helpful to me as it helped bridge the gap between theoretical subject and its practical applications. Their experience in the corporate world helped us to understand various aspects of legal transactions which are not taught in a law school. I’ve had the privilege to be taught by both Mr. Kedia and Mr. Mohanty. Enrolling for their workshops separately has to be the best decision I’ve took professionally. I opted for an elective on Securities Regulations in my college and it was then that I developed interest in studying Capital Markets. However, the elective in college only briefly touched infinitesimal aspects of vast penumbra of public offerings.

In legal profession, one rarely finds mentors who work in order to teach and train freshers. In the initial days of the workshop every student enrolled was spoon fed. By spoon feeding, I in no ways mean that we are not tested analytically. The workshop is highly technical, and it requires active participation from our end.

I was a student whose basics were weak, it is Mr. Kedia and Mr. Mohanty’s efforts that I learnt the nuances of Capital Markets with great ease.

Their efforts were not limited to teach me the academic part of the practice area. They went out of their way and helped me to grab an internship at Saraf and Partners. The internship experience at Saraf and Partners was one of a kind as everyone at the firm was amazed to see the understanding of the subject and skills of the interns who were associated with LFI. I am heartful and glad that I joined LFI.

As a student at LFI, not only have I been able to increase my theoretical knowledge but also garnered how to navigate through the practical aspects that I was confronted with during my internships. While interning at Khaitan & Co., L&L Partners, Dua Associates, Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan, and J. Sagar Associates, I had to work intensively on various aspects of corporate law. Not only was it immensely helpful to have studied under the guidance of Mr. Kedia and Mr. Mohanty, but whenever I found myself in a position where I struggled with understanding certain concepts and principles, I was able to freely approach them and they would patiently explain everything to me in detail. Moreover, whenever I had interviews scheduled for internships or placement, both Mr. Kedia and Mr. Mohanty took out time to sit one-on-one, discuss my CV with me, and even take mock interviews. In today’s time, it’s impossible to find someone in the legal field who takes even 2 minutes out of their schedule, let alone provide 1-1 guidance. Due to my time at LFI, I was able to find mentors who have helped and directed me towards exploring my true abilities.

Being part of Lex Familia is not just about the subject or field of practice. Narayan sir and Saswat sir take a personal interest in ensuring that each student fully grasp the topic being covered. It has been a privilege to be a part of Lex Familia because of the overall development it provides. Having attended their workshops has helped me learn about the practical aspects of capital markets. Through Narayan sir and Saswat sir's guidance, I've managed to attain an internship at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. with their capital markets team.

This is probably me just boasting but imagine being asked as an intern to educate associates on the IPO process, yes that did happen. You happen learn a lot more than just conceptual knowledge with these courses, they teach you to apply that conceptual knowledge, its practicality. So, what was once a monotonous monologue of Sections and Regulations, is now, you learning how to apply that knowledge in drafting, for instance prospectuses. That in itself speaks volumes of what is being done here. Besides, knowledge on the subject, there is a lot more to gain from these courses, especially if you're in your penultimate year. With mentors like Mr. Narayan Kedia and Mr. Saswat Mohanty, guiding you throughout, on what to expect in your zero day interviews, what to look for in a CV, how to keep up with trends and much much more. There's simply no end to the assistance we have recieved from them, throughout these courses as well after them.

I had always deemed company law a labrynthine, unapproachable sector of legal study. Therefore, I had my apprehensions about actually coming to comprehend it. This completely changed when I enrolled under the Company Law course provided by Lex Familia India. The classes taken by Mr. Narayan Kedia and Mr. Saswat Mohanty were nothing short of magical. Their pedagogy was extremely effective, primarily because they provided us with real-life examples of the operation of the Companies Act in addition to theoretical explanations of its various sections and rules attached to it. I have attended the Company law course as well as the Securities law course and I can confidently say that I learned a lot. The sessions were highly interactive, practical and the conceptual clarity I received was impressive.
